Tedd is originally from Florida (but he says he got to Texas as soon as he could!). Tedd joined the Army straight out of high school.  Tedd excelled in the military.  Tedd also attended and graduated from West Point in 2004.  Tedd's specialty in the Army was Air Defense artillery. Tedd was deployed to Iraq in 2007 and served for a year in Operation Iraqi Freedom.   He served as an operations officer in charge of executing planning and operations for U.S. and Iraqi forces.  Tedd led 10 soldiers embedded with approximately 700 Iraqi national police.  After serving in the military for over 9 years and being honorably discharged, Tedd began to transition back to civilian life. Although Tedd still had many friends in the military and kept in touch, he longed for a companion that would stay by his side when Tedd worked from home and got lonely.  Tedd's wife reached out to Paws for Heroes for a companion dog. Tedd wanted a dog that was large and very active but also one who could chill when it was time to relax but be up for a long hikes too.

 

Paws for Heroes found Dougie, an animal cruelty survivor, and adopted him from the Houston Humane Society. Dougie now spends his days at Tedd's feet while Tedd works until it's time to play and go for hikes and then cool off from the Texas heat in the pool. Ted said Dougie is the perfect dog for him.  Tedd and Dougie have also become ambassadors for Paws for Heroes, helping educate people about the difficulties faced by our veterans transitioning back to civilian life while also highlighting the amazing dogs that are available at local shelters like the Houston Humane Society.
